ICOMOS Technical Review 2019 on the Monitoring of the Historic Centre of Florence

On 12th July 2018, the Municipal Council of Florence approved the Monitoring of the Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Florence. This document is conceived as a strategic tool for the effective implementation of the Action Plan of the Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Florence, updated in 2016.

On the 18th March 2019, the english version of the text has been submitted to the World Heritage Center and also shared with ICOMOS. ICOMOS, as Advisory Body of the Center, provides – amongst other responsibilties – for the monitoring of the state of conservation of the cultural properties inscribed in the World Heritage List.

On the 18th December 2019, the World Heritage Center has shared with us the Technical Review produced by ICOMOS, which congratulates for the successful development of the Monitoring. In the Technical Review, ICOMOS expressess positive comments regarding the approach adopted, based on the recommendations of the Advisory Mission od UNESCO/ICOMOS of 2017, demonstrating the improvements made in the sustainable management of the site especially in the mobility sector.
