6th World Heritage Site Managers’ Forum

New Delhi, India, 18 - 25 july 2024

The sixth edition of the “World Heritage Site Managers’ Forum” took place in New Delhi, India, from July 18 to 25, 2024, in conjunction with the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee.

The Forum was organised by the Archaeological Survey of India (a branch of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India), the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and the ICCROM-IUCN World Heritage Leadership Programme.

This significant event provided an invaluable opportunity for training and networking, aimed at strengthening and expanding the network of site managers. Participants shared activities, research projects, experiences, and best practices dedicated to the international management of World Heritage sites. This year’s Forum focused on the theme “Heritage and Communities: Inclusive and Effective Approaches for the Sustainable Management of World Heritage Sites,” with the objective of promoting sustainable development through the active involvement of local communities.Representing Italy at the Forum were delegates from the World Heritage sites “Historic Centre of Florence” and “Porticoes of Bologna.”

Participants of the Forum prepared a Declaration, which was subsequently submitted to the World Heritage Committee. The text of the Declaration can be downloaded from the following link:
